March, 2025

This month has been exciting progress, so far! Prentice Lee made a presentation to Rotary Club of Burnaby on March 7th,  2025 to talk about our projects.  We are looking for some kickstart funding and will need to apply for some funding with them.  Thanks to Louise and Doug Rennie for setting this up.  (Doug is the Administrator for the Rotary Club of Burnaby). The presentation was well-received. We met the incoming President, Jim Fryett, and were delighted to find out that his daughter is a landscape architect who may be able to offer her services to us in connection with our site design.

Despite a steady downpour of rain, we held our first Invasive Plant Pull of this year on Saturday, March 8th, 2025  at the North end of Gilmore Ave. where it intersects with TransCanada Trail.  We managed to remove two holly trees and some blackberry canes, as well as plucked some remaining ivy from last year’s efforts.

On Saturday, March 15th, 2025, we have our next Steering Committee meeting where we will set the date for our upcoming invasive plant pull.  Please let us know if you are interested in attending either or both events.  We can be reached through our email: wonsocietyhq@gmail.com
